I’ve been trudging along, paying my bills, paying off debt, all the while not realizing that I have paid off more than half my debt. Last night I was updating Quicken and checking into my accounts, making sure all the numbers were in line and finally yesterday morning it dawned on me: I AM HALFWAY THERE!
Normally this would involve a celebration and treating myself to something, but I think I’ve done enough of that recently. You’ll see what I mean in Saturday’s style post with my latest wardrobe additions and an Adventures in Clothing Consignment update. I’ll just go ahead and bake that sweet potato pie that’s on my November to do list – sweet, yummy treats always work J
Enough about that….
Drum roll please….. And feel free to do a happy dance with me…
I have paid off $37,573.37! I have crossed the halfway point.
Total Starting Debt $73,748 Total Debt Remaining $36,174.63
Starting Consumer debt: $33,934.00 Current Consumer debt: $15,471.34
Car Loan Start: $39,814.00 Current Car Loan: $20,703.29
I’m hoping I can hit my year-end goal of $10K or less owing in consumer debt on my LOC. It is going to be close though. For November, I increased debt repayment to $1600 a month, and so far, I’m on track to hit that number.
It’s the home stretch for my consumer debt payments and it’s important not to let debt fatigue do me in, especially with Black Friday around the corner – that could send me into a shopping frenzy. Luckily, I am sick of mall parking lots and wading through gads of people to get a piece of crap specifically made and marketed for Black Friday. I can officially say I’m becoming quite the conscious shopper; I’ve gotten much better at waiting and sniffing out deals. I will only buy if a) I have the money for it b) it’s an item on my wardrobe needs list and c) a super deal.
Have you hit any milestones recently and have it go unnoticed?
