Welcome to the new site! Throughout the journey I’ve been on, one thing has remained constant – a small voice kept repeating – live a simple life. For the past year, that voice has grown louder, and a new mindset has been evolving. Now more than ever, simplifying life has become a necessity more than a passing fancy. Not only for the state of my finances, but also for life itself. Throughout the madness and chaos of life up to this point, I haven’t been 100% present. I wasn’t enjoying all of life. I was missing some of those moments you shouldn’t miss.
Missing those moments is heartbreaking. Life shouldn’t get so crazy that you miss milestones or coast along on autopilot. What started out as a debt repayment journey over on Budget Bloggess, has turned into the desire to live an intentional, joy-filled, classy and simple life.
The desire to curb my shopaholism is another strong motivator. When you look at life and see that you’ve spent a good portion of your time and energy pursuing the next best dress or pair of shoes, you know a change has to happen. I’ve been through change many times in my life, and this is simply the next iteration. It’s been coming on slowly and has finally culminated in this evolution. You can only keep going on the same path for so long before you collide with something that will alter your course. The desire to live a simple life is that alteration in course. I’ve run smack into Planet Simple Living.
Now that you know the motivators behind this change, I’d like to joyously introduce you to The Classy Simple Life. Let’s start by defining my ideals of both Classy and Simple Living, as we all have different ideas behind both notions.
What is Classy?
In my books, Classy equals Audrey Hepburn. She was the epitome of style, grace, elegance and kindness. I believe that a woman can still be modern and epitomize all of these virtues. So consider this blog the modern woman’s guide to simple yet classy living. It’s about earning others respect through elegance, kindness, humility, high self-worth and knowing that perfection is not the goal. Classy is being true to your authentic self and aging gracefully.
What Classy is not.
Classy does not equal fancy things that you spend all of your hard earned dollars on. Yes, there is room for small luxuries in life, but the pursuit should not be to own every Gucci bag on the planet (which I don’t by the way). I own zero Gucci. Classy is also not having a potty mouth or being a complete hoochie mama in public.
What is Simple Living?
Ah, the best part of it all. Simple Living is living an uncluttered, less chaotic life. You can only spend so much of your life commuting 4 hours in insane traffic, living with excessive digital clutter and piles of things around you before your soul screams “UNCLE!” Mine did, are you there yet?
We’ll journey into simplicity with your money, travel and your daily life.
What Simple Living is not.
It’s not living in an empty, stark white room surrounded by nothing but four walls. This is not minimalism in its extreme form. I don’t know how people do it but kudos to them for trying. I enjoy being surrounded by flowers, color and a few nice things. I believe that you should be surrounded by people, and things that bring you joy. Neither in excess. When you’re an introvert as I am, too many people and too many things start to clutter your mind’s eye. It’s hard to keep up with it all. Life can still be colourful in every way and be simple.
This will be a place of ideas, whys and life experiments. You’ll experience my love of photography, this newfound lifestyle of simplicity, and joy in being “in the world and of the world”. My fave Audrey Hepburn quote from the movie Sabrina. 🙂
Let’s adventure into a simple, fun, colourful, classy life together! I hope I can bring some happiness to your day and help you achieve simply classy, simple living.
