Ah, April what a month! April Showers bring May Flowers, or in my convoluted world, it would be April Showers bring Money Trees but that doesn’t rhyme so well. Spring is finally here and this harsh Canadian winter appears to have given up its grasp on us, at least I’m being confident it has, I’d cry if I saw any more snow!
Showers, Flowers and trees aside, April is a month for renewal and starting afresh, and that is exactly what I have planned. I’m starting all over again with the one area I have a spending problem: my passion for fashion. Because it will be a challenge and many people have advised me that quitting cold turkey probably isn’t for the best and/or won’t work, I’d like to prove them wrong, and then do it again the month after that. I’ll just have to read my fashion blogs and keep it at that.
To keep it simple, my main goal is to not spend anything for the month of April on anything clothing related. Once April is over, I’ll re-evaluate the goal and attempt to do it all again in May. For every week that passes without spending anything on clothing, I’ll give myself $20 to invest where I want – RRSP, TFSA, US Savings, etc. It must be a wealth building investment! No saving to buy clothes!
Cut the Cable – no more TV! Once my parents return, I’ll be transferring the TV back into their name and cutting the cord. I hardly watch it anymore and I’m wasting $50 a month to watch two channels.
Last month didn’t go so well for reading books, so I’m going to read like a maniac this month. I’ll just say that Warren Buffet’s book The Snowball was the most b-o-r-i-n-g book I have ever attempted to read and I read a lot. It was very dry.
