You had a stellar 2016. You learned to live again. Yes, you were knocked down. Knocked right back down to the bottom. But from the bottom, there is only one direction – and that’s up. You’re standing at the bottom of the most beautiful mountain looking up at all the new and exciting things you can do with life. Yes, you learned a few lessons along the way. The most important lesson of all? A renewed sense of gratitude and humility.
You thought you had humility in spades, but the universe always has a way of showing you how much more fulfilling life can be with a little more humility.
You learned to say it’s all I have to give right now. Please, take my time and this small token, it’s all I have. It taught you that the greatest gift to give others is your time and gratitude.
It took a year, but you learned that you are enough. You’re worthy of love, happiness, simplicity and abundance.
You taught yourself that the negative, self-pity type thoughts rolling around in your head take way more energy than smiling and having a positive outlook.
And that’s where it’s at. You found yourself smiling more. With each passing day, you began your day with a smile and gratitude that you simply existed and had another day.
The need to buy things, prove yourself, try to fit in, all faded away behind a renewed sense of self. You came out of the dark and into the light. You learned it was okay to just be. To be that amazing woman you are, no matter your quirks. It’s okay to show your weirdness and realize that if those around you don’t like it, that’s tough.
It’s okay to be different.
You learned it was okay to leave the corporate rat race behind and strike out on your own path. You’ll survive. You’ll make a real go of life on your own terms. No more drumming to the beat of someone else’s tune.
You learned that joy comes from saving for something, instead of instant gratification.
You found yourself, your passion and your purpose for being here.
For 2017, invest in you and your dream. Follow your heart and where the universe takes you. You’ll never go wrong.
When your soul calls and pulls you in a direction, it’s your mission to follow it.
Take time, and then take a bit more. Nurture your soul. Believe that self-care is important and that taking a day to simply drink tea and read a book is okay.
Wander, and then wander further. Push to the end of the trail and maybe, just maybe, you’ll find something beautiful and meaningful.
So look 2017 straight in the eyes and tell it, I’ve got this and I don’t need resolutions to get where I’m going. I’ll live simple and keep marching toward the life I dream of.
Dear 2017, keep your overwhelming resolutions. I choose to live simple, follow my own path and take time to light others up.
