If you’ve read my Twitter feed, you’ll see that I’ve started reading “The Secret”. Okay, a little late maybe! Better late, than never right? A friend happened to loan it to me – she couldn’t believe I hadn’t read it either!
I’m into Chapter 2 and my biggest takeaway was the phrase “Life is so easy, Life is so good, all good things will come to me.” So I made it my mission on Tuesday to live this motto for the day. As Jesse Brisendine would say, Carpe Diem! I lived it. I started my day with a happy thought pattern and repeated this phrase in my mind all day.
It was fantastic! Many wonderful things happened all day:
My work communications went smoothly. I stopped focusing on what was wrong with everything and focused on getting my work done efficiently.
At lunch, I had to exchange a backpack for all my photography gear and that had to be the best experience all day! I went in with a cheery attitude, told the rep behind the counter jokingly “this backpack is clearly not for a 130 pound girl with a skinny waist”. Which I must say, it wasn’t. Kata, if you’re reading this, the Bumblebee UL222 backpack is not made for girls! Or smaller people. Regardless, the rep took the extra time to find me the right pack, chatted about his photography experience and about his wife’s experience with Canon cameras (I recently switched from Nikon to Canon). He even gave me the same price on the new slightly more expensive bag to make it an easy exchange. How nice was that?
I spent time in the office in the afternoon with my co-workers and had a wonderful time catching up and sharing work ideas. I even repeated my motto for the day to one of my co-workers. She laughed of course, not believing that I hadn’t read The Secret before. I laughed as well, and told her, I know, I’m behind the times!
I came home with a positive attitude and I think my cat even noticed! She behaved herself and didn’t try clawing or chewing on things. I always find it amazing how animals pick up on our moods. I’m no cat whisperer by any means, but I was surprised at how well she behaved.
I seized the day and made some accomplishments. They may be small ones in size, but the boost to my emotional and mental state cannot be measured!
